Emergency response specialists organize the clean up of hazardous spills which can potentially harm environmental and human health. These specialists work with local, state, and federal authorities to quickly contain the substance and decontaminate the affected area. Additionally, they would be responsible for notifying the public of any threats the spill may cause as well as evacuating areas at risk due to exposure. They may also be required to conduct an investigation of spills resulting from illegal dumping or storage, which may ultimately lead to a criminal court case. Responsibilities Often Include:
