Emergency Management Specialist
 

Emergency management specialists coordinate warning, response, control, and clean up plans for natural disasters, disease outbreaks, and terrorist attacks. Their objective is to mitigate adverse health affects people may suffer after a disaster occurs. Specialist must also conduct training sessions to prepare local, state, and federal officials as well as emergency response teams so in the event of an emergency, optimum support is achieved.

Responsibilities Often Include:
• Creating emergency response plans
• Organizing emergency response teams
• Advising federal, state, and local officials
• Conducting trainings
• Initiating appropriate action before, during, and after emergencies
• Speaking with the news media
• Educating the public
