Solid Waste Specialist
 

A solid waste specialist works to ensure waste is properly treated or stored. Often times they will monitor the construction, operation and maintenance of landfills so that solid waste is managed appropriately in order to prevent major health hazards. Additionally, they educate the public, work with medical professionals to facilitate the suitable disposal of medical wastes, and administer recycling programs.

Responsibilities Often Include:
• Supervising landfill management
• Issuing permits
• Enforcing regulations
• Performing inspections
• Overseeing the construction of landfills
• Administrating solid waste programs
